Traffic Ticket Programs in Deschutes County
Deschutes County offers several programs that may help you resolve a traffic ticket. These are sometimes called traffic safety programs. They allow eligible drivers to take a class instead of having a conviction on their driving record. If you complete the program, your violation is dismissed. It will not show up on your record.
There are three main programs. One is for drivers age 25 and older. A second is for drivers under 25. The third focuses on driver's license issues. A Fix-It program is also available for equipment violations. The Fix-It fee is $65. To qualify for a traffic safety program, you must meet certain rules:
- No traffic convictions in the past two years
- No traffic safety programs completed in the past two years
- CDL holders are not eligible
- Cell phone violations are not eligible as of October 2017
These programs are a good way to keep a clean driving record if you get a traffic ticket in Deschutes County. Ask the court clerk for more details when you call about your case.
Note: Not all violations qualify for a traffic safety program. Serious offenses and repeat violations may not be eligible for dismissal through these Deschutes County programs.
Deschutes County Automated Traffic Enforcement
The city of Bend is set to launch an automated traffic enforcement program. This program uses cameras to catch red light violations and speeding. The contractor for the program is Verra Mobility. That citation becomes part of your Deschutes County traffic ticket records.
Fines for camera-based speeding tickets in Bend follow a tiered system. Going 11 to 20 miles per hour over the limit is a Class C violation with a $165 fine. Speeds 21 to 30 over bring a Class B violation at $265. Anything 31 or more over the limit is a Class A violation with a $440 fine. These fines are set by the city and apply to all automated enforcement citations in Deschutes County.
The first camera locations are planned for three intersections in Bend. These are NE 27th Street and Neff Road, SE Reed Market Road and Third Street, and SE Powers Road and Third Street. The program is expected to begin in April 2026.
The Bend automated traffic enforcement page describes the camera program and its impact on Deschutes County traffic ticket records.
Drivers in Deschutes County should be aware of these new camera locations and the fines tied to each type of speeding violation.
Note: Automated enforcement citations are handled the same way as officer-issued tickets. They appear in your traffic ticket records at the Deschutes County Circuit Court.
