Traffic Enforcement in Lane County

The Lane County Sheriff's Office no longer has funding for traffic enforcement deputies. This means the Sheriff does not run regular traffic patrols on county roads. Most traffic tickets in Lane County now come from city police, Oregon State Police, or other agencies. This change affects how many new traffic ticket records are created in the Lane County system.

The Lane County Sheriff traffic enforcement FAQ explains the current situation. Residents who have speed concerns can still request a speed trailer. Contact Sgt. Wells at 541-682-7406 for that. The trailer collects speed data but does not issue citations or create traffic ticket records.
